Invitation

We warmly and humbly invite you to join us on June 21, 2026, at 7:30 AM in Golden Gate Park's Horse Shoe Pit, San Francisco, for a Mayan Fire Ceremony honoring Waxaqib B’atz’ and the Summer Solstice.

This will be a deeply sacred moment to give thanks for life, for the cycles that have been completed, and for the new path that is beginning to unfold before us. Waxaqib B’atz’ commemorates the day of the Fourth Creation, when humanity received the sacred breath of life and the consciousness to walk in harmony with the Earth and the cosmos.

On this special occasion, the Summer Solstice aligns with Waxaqib B’atz’, creating a powerful doorway of renewal, light, and transformation. We will gather around the sacred fire to offer our prayers, intentions, and gratitude in connection with our ancestors, nature, and the living energies that sustain life.

Please feel free to bring flowers, candles, seeds, copal, or any offering that comes from your heart. Come dressed comfortably and prepared to share in respect, humility, and community.

All are welcome.

The Ceremony of Waxaqib B’atz’

The ceremony of Waxaqib B’atz’ is one of the most sacred and celebrated days within the Maya spiritual calendar, known as the Cholq’ij (the 260-day sacred count). 8 B'atz' is the day of human perfection. It was the day when the creators finished the creation of human kind here on Mother Earth. It is the final stage for the creation of all humans. Waxaqib B’atz’ translates to “8 B’atz’,”

In a Mayan Fire Ceremony, this day is honored with offerings, prayers, candles, flowers, copal, and sacred fire. The fire is seen as a living presence—a messenger that carries intentions to the heart of the cosmos. During Waxaqib B’atz’, ceremonies often include the initiation and recognition of new spiritual guides, daykeepers, or healers, as it is considered an auspicious time to step into one’s purpose and service.

Spiritually, it is a moment to:

  • Give thanks for the cycles that have been completed

  • Release what no longer belongs in your path

  • Set new intentions aligned with your soul’s calling

  • Reconnect with your gifts and the sacred weaving of your life

Summer Solstice Celebration

We are going to conclude with a very unique gift of the cosmos and the Mayan cosmology. The summer solstice arrives on the same day as our most sacred ceremony Waxaqib’ B’atz’ creating a doorway for us to walk humbly into a new chapter of our lives.  The summer solstice, the longest day of the year, has long been honored by the Maya civilization and the Aztec Empire as a sacred moment of light, connection, and renewal. Rather than simply marking a change in the seasons, it is felt as a time when the sun’s energy is at its fullest—illuminating not only the Earth, but also our inner path. For the Maya, this was a moment to give thanks for life, for the nourishment of sacred maize, and for the guidance that comes from living in harmony with the natural world. For the Aztec, the sun was honored as the living spirit Huitzilopochtli, a source of vitality and movement, calling for reverence and reciprocity. Across these traditions, the solstice is remembered as a doorway—a time to pause, reflect, and offer gratitude for all that is growing within and around us. In this spirit, a Mayan fire ceremony becomes a heart-centered gathering where prayers, intentions, and offerings are carried by the fire, inviting clarity, transformation, and a deeper connection with the living energies that guide and sustain us.
